Sino-Russian Economic and Trade Matching: Looking Back on the Harbin Trade Fair’s Growing Path

Harbin Trade Fair has been well-known for its keeping Russia-oriented since its first session, which makes Harbin Trade Fair the biggest comprehensive exhibition fair on Sino-Russian economic and trade cooperation. And it has become the only exhibition fair written down in the joint communiqué on Sino-Russian State Heads Meeting.

Statistics can exemplify the development well. Imp. & exp. trade contracts worth 18.5 billion yuan have been signed in recent 5 years, taking 72% of the total imp. & exp. contracts signed. With its unique prominence and competence, Harbin Trade Fair has become a big stage of Sino-Russian economic and trade matchmaking.

Harbin Trade Fair has become a window for the economic and trade cooperation of China, USSR and Eastern Europe since its first establishment in 1990. It changed the whole pattern of the economic and trade development of our country, from the solely coastal economic development to coastal and border economic development.

Thanks to the location, some border areas become the biggest winners. Hei River and Amur Oblast show their prominence in the economic trade cooperation and the competence in the invitation of business. Jewish Autonomous Oblast government and Heilongjiang government have reached an agreement on building the ice ferry bridge. This only bridge has been put into use for 2 winters. It not only extends the transportation cycle on ice, but also guarantees the security of the goods and passengers transportation in winter.

The governor of Jewish Autonomous Oblast said that they got much profit from joining in the Harbin Trade Fair which promotes the cooperation between Jewish Autonomous Oblast and China, especially some Chinese border areas.

Razov, the ambassador in China, said that the reform of the Harbin Trade Fair is actually the developing history of the Sino-Russian economic trade relation. From the very beginning of only several exhibition pavilions which mainly exhibit the daily-used articles, Harbin Trade Fair has developed into one of the largest scale exhibition fair in Northeast China, even in Northeast Asia.

Business talks, contracts signing, promotion, symposium, etc., Russian Business Day which starts in the 16^th Harbin Trade Fair catches the trend of Sino-Russian economic trade the most, becoming one of the brand activities which bring the exhibitors and professional visitors from China, Russia, even other countries business opportunities.

Recent years’ Harbin Trade Fair attracted more and more enterprises from European Russia, Ural Area, West Siberia. Domestic enterprises actively joined in the Harbin Trade Fair.

The central part of Russia seeks cooperation with Harbin Trade Fair. Russian economic delegation promotes itself with the help of the platform.
