Brief Introduction of the 5th Harbin Frontier and Local Economic and Trade Fair

The 5th Harbin Frontier and Local Economic and Trade Fair was solemnly held from June 15th to June 21st, 1994 in Heilongjiang International Exhibition Hall.

Along with five thousand attendants from 44 countries and regions in five continents, more than 20 trading delegations and 850 enterprises organized by 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions as well as 11 units under jurisdiction of central party committee participated in the fair. Eight billion U.S dollars of trade contracts, economic and technical cooperation contracts were signed which increased by 12.2 percent compared with the previous fair including the total volume of import and export contracts valued at US$6.9 billion which increased by 11.3 percent compared with the previous one.

This fair was reformed and perfected in accordance with international practice, and it had following characteristics:

Contracts were signed in larger areas than previous fairs. Besides 28 trading delegations from industrial companies, frontier and local trading companies attended the fair, the technical research institutions, township and village enterprises, joint ventures, large and medium sized enterprises with import and export managing power from provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities also attended the fair and they talked with foreign counterparts actively and directly.

More foreign exhibition booths and foreign businessmen took part in it. Foreign exhibition booths reached six times as much as previous fair. Participants have expanded from CIS countries, Eastern European countries to other countries from all the five continents where the foreign clients are.

Exhibition was prepared with higher standard and with commodity of higher quality. Every trading delegation spent more money and more time in exhibition preparation, for example, Hongkong Hall with simple and bright decoration. More commodities were taken to the fair with rich and colorful, high quality, attraction, and competitiveness for marketing.

Trade by cash soared in general for trading delegations from provinces and municipalities. The contracts by cash with high value added were signed by Tianjin, Jilin, Fujian, Guangdong, Henan, Dalian, Harbin,etc.. Some trade by cash contracts were signed by trading delegations from Japan, Korea, Russia, Hongkong. The trading volume by cash accounted for five percent of the total value of transaction reached two times as much as the previous fair.

Main Concluded Projects

1. China Northeast Golden City Industrial General Corporation , North China Jinghai Trading Company and other two domestic trading companies signed 4.5 million US dollars valued contracts with Russian businessmen, and the commodities were varies, such as truck, steel, light industry, clothing, shoes, hats and electronic product.

2. An agreement on building a bonded warehouse in Russia was signed between Harbin International Corporation for Economic & Technological Cooperation and
one Russian corporation

3. Heilongjiang Cereal, Oil & Foodstuff Import & Export Corporation, Hulan Limin Industrial Corporation and Thailand Zhengda (Group) Corporation Ltd signed a collaborative project contract on jointly establishing Heilongjiang Zhengda Industrial Co., Ltd with the total investment of 27 million US dollars.

4. Mudanjiang Lysine Company and Trading Service Company of Labor Bank of Russia signed the contract on building lysine project of 5000 tons with total investment of 30 million US dollars.

5. A contract on jointly building Irkutsk recreational center was signed between Harbin Huadong Economy & Trade Company and Russia Irkutsk Industrial Construction Shareholding Company.

6. A contract for bonded warehouse was signed between Heilongjiang International Corporation for Engineering & Technical Cooperation and one Russian corporation.
